FAQ

Get some insight into how your kitchen renovation project will be managed and how we ensure the best possible quality of craftsmanship.

What areas do you cover/reach?

We service as far south as Richmond Hill and as far north as Barrie.

Is your company insured?

Yes, we carry general 5 million in liability (GL) insurance, Workers’ Compensation (Workers’ Comp) Insurance and Commercial Auto Insurance.

Do you have Workers’ Compensation?

Yes. Insurance certificates provided upon request.

How long does it take to get an estimate after initial consultation?

Our goal is to be on-site for a review and have an estimate in your hands within a week of the initial consultation. This does not include drawing, as this typically happens post-project acceptance, or when a client would like to pay for this service prior to committing to the whole project.

Who will be coming to my home to provide the estimate?

Either the business owner or one of our qualified sales representatives.

How long is an estimate valid for?

We generally hold prices for 30 days, although there can be flexibility with this if dialogue is continuing.

Do you offer financing?

No. Unfortunately, we are not in the lending business, but a good financial advisor will be able to assist you with this.

Will I get a drawing of the project?

Upon contract agreement, we will provide 3D drawings of the custom millwork.

How do you manage scope creep?

Unfortunately, with any renovation or construction project, you cannot see everything until it is all exposed. With that said, communication is critical with every change or exception we see, and will always include you in the process and decision making. Any changes are reviewed and agreed upon verbally and in writing by you prior to moving forward.

Do you use sub-contractors on your projects?

Yes, all of our speciality trades (e.g. electrician, plumber, HVAC) are sub-contractors, although they are treated more like partners. We have worked with them for many years and trust them implicitly.

Will you bring samples to an appointment (e.g. flooring, countertops, etc.)?

Yes, we can, but typically we like our clients to visit our showroom when it comes to making decisions on finishings.

Should I get the building permit myself?

Yes, we strongly recommend this. If you are uncomfortable with this, we can certainly help.

How does payment work?

Once the proposal is agreed upon, a payment schedule will be provided. It is important to note that any late payment can result in a stop work.

How much should I plan for project budget scope creep?

On new construction projects, it is safe to predict a 10% or less increase from original estimate. On renovation projects, 15% is best. This will account for any surprises that may occur when walls get opened up. If you don’t need it, all the better.

Where do I find inspiration for my project/design?

There are a couple ways to approach this. The first, which can sometimes be budget prohibitive, is to work with a designer. We can assist with this if you choose this path. The second approach is to use design resources such as Pinterest, Houzz, or your favourite magazines. From here, you can make decisions with your contractor on style and solutions for your remodelling project.

Interested in starting your kitchen renovation project?

I was very impressed with how Jeff and his team executed as promised. Working within an existing structure, it was a little bit more complicated than expected. Jeff was very clear and explaining what he thought was the best recommendation to achieve what I had hoped to get. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with his pricing, quality, and commitment to satisfaction.
